Randall Nardone Looks Forward To The Future At Fortress Investment Group

Randal Nardone is the CEO and co-founder of Fortress Investment Group, established in 1998 out of New York City. He is one of three principals and a member of the Management Committee. Nardone also has several leadership positions in many of the company’s subsidiaries as well as being named on the Forbes Magazine’s 2007 World Billionaires list.

Before co-founding Fortress, Randal Nardone held a position as principal at BlackRock Financial Management and was a managing director for UBS. He was also a partner at the law firm Thacher, Proffitt and Wood during the early part of his career.

Randal Nardone earned his law degree in 1980 from the Boston University School of Law and he received two undergraduate degrees in English and Biology from the University of Connecticut. His well-rounded education has allowed him to enjoy great success in the business world as both an attorney and a financial manager.

As co-founder and current CEO of Fortress, Randal Nardone has experienced the transition of Fortress from a private investment management firm to making history as the first large scale private equity firm to go public on the New York Stock exchange in 2007. Now operating on a global scale, the company manages over $43 billion in investments for around 1,750 investors. Fortress manages investments in hedge funds, private equity and permanent capital vehicles.

Randal Nardone was also an instrumental part in the making of financial history when Fortress Investment Group became the first alternative investment firm to be bought by another company. In 2017, Japanese SoftBank Group Corporation purchased Fortress for $3.3 billion dollars. Although headquartered in Tokyo, Fortress is still operating as an independent entity in New York City. Nardone has retained his position as principal throughout the many transitions Fortress Investment Group has undergone. He looks forward to the many opportunities for growth and expansion of the company in the global market through the merger with SoftBank.
